MEDIA STATEMENT

Charities tax discussion document out next month

Revenue Minister Peter Dunne says the keenly-awaited discussion document on tax rebates for donations to charities and other non-profit organisations is expected to be released for public consultation next month.

Mr Dunne, who is also leader of United Future, said the document is the result of the confidence and supply agreement between his party and Labour agreed after the election.

United Future is keen to promote philanthropy in New Zealand by greatly increasing the tax deductions available for charitable donations.

Once the document has been publicly discussed, Mr Dunne hopes to be able to make decisions late this year or early next about any consequent changes to the legislation.
