Inland Revenue's Policy division jointly with the Treasury, advises the New Zealand Government on all aspects of tax law and reform and on social policy measures that interact with the tax system. The Policy division:
- advises the New Zealand Government on all aspects of tax law changes and social policy measures that interact with the tax system
- develops tax policy
- drafts tax legislation
- negotiates, interprets and maintains New Zealand's network of double tax agreements with other countries
