Niue next to co-operate with OECD tax haven work

Niue is the latest country to agree to co-operate with the OECD in enforcement of tax laws. The OECD announced today that Niue had made a commitment to improve the transparency of its tax and regulatory systems and establish effective exchange of information for tax matters with OECD countries by the end of 2005. Niue is one of several countries in the Pacific area the OECD has identified as tax havens. Last month the Cook Islands agreed to co-operate with the OECD, the first of the identified Pacific Island countries to do so.
